Rhonda Campbell – Principal Speech Pathologist

B.App.Sci l CPSP l MSPA l Specialist Cert in Clinical Research (Neuroscience) l Hanen Certified

Rhonda’s greatest passion is seeing the difference that can be made when she completes a comprehensive assessment and really gets to the heart of what is underlying the challenges faced by her clients.

Starting in 1989, and now celebrating 35 years of meeting individual needs Rhonda Campbell identified a need for affordable independent services, that allowed families and schools to access ongoing speech pathology services, free of waiting lists and departmental limitations.

Rhonda has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology and a Specialist Certificate in Neuroscience Research. She found her niche in literacy, early language, articulation therapy and myofunctional support for those with orthodontic needs, but over the years she has worked with all ages and a wide variety of needs.

Outcome focus drives the intervention that is delivered. Rhonda trained in THRASS 20+ years ago and believes that it is now compulsory for all clinicians in our practice to do the training because it is theoretically and philosophically aligned with the phonetic and phonemic principles fundamental to speech pathology practice and it relies on explicit teaching strategies that remove ambiguity for our literal learners.

Rhonda is a transformational catalyst and this shows up in her role as a clinician and mentor. She is passionate about her industry and has been the Chairperson of VISPNet (Victorian Independent Speech Pathologist), an informal group of committed speech pathologists across Victoria for 20+ years, and was the National Co-ordinator of the Private Practise Reference Group for 7 years for Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).

West Gippsland Speech Pathology, located in Morwell, was Rhonda’s first business. The practice started at a half-day a fortnight, now Bellfield Speech Pathology has grown operating a six-room customised clinic in Warragul.

More than 4,000 families and 29 schools have received support and assistance from Bellfield Speech Pathology. Clinics have been conducted for parents and teachers using THRASS and Hanen that have been particularly beneficial to schools and families. The introduction of the Cellfield Reading Program in 2005 allowed Bellfield to provide support tailored specifically for those with specific reading difficulties.

Rhonda has four grown children and many beautiful grandchildren. One granddaughter is on her journey into the educational arena, so Rhonda shares the experience of all parents and grandparents who wish for the best possible educational outcomes for their children and grandchildren.
